2nd Grade Teacher
Hello! My name is Cody Herring. I am SO excited to begin my second year at CES with amazing students in my classroom! My goal is always to communicate as much as I can about what we are doing so that everyone is successful in my classroom.
I'm so thankful to be back at the school that I attended years ago when I was in 2nd and 3rd grade! I have lived in Olive Branch my entire life, and dreamed of coming back to the schools that inspired me to become a teacher. I graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. I love all aspects of music and creativity, so expect my classroom to be full of both of those things! I cannot wait to create a great atmosphere for my students while they are at school.
As I mentioned above, I graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education, with endorsements in ELA, Social Studies, and SPED. My senior year I represented the University's School of Education program and was awarded with the Mississippi Association of Colleges of Teacher Education (MACTE) Outstanding Intern Award, which recognizes one student teacher with outstanding leadership, professionalism, and service.
My junior year I student taught at New Albany Elementary School, and worked with 1st graders once a week during the spring semester. My senior year I got to remain in Oxford and student taught at Lafayette Upper Elementary School in a 5th grade math and science class. During this time I helped plan lessons, manage the class, and instruct students in an inclusion setting. I'm very thankful to have experienced different age groups and different types of students during my student teaching time. It has made me a very well rounded educator!
